Playing down racism
The first reactions to the attack on the Black Ermyas M. in Potsdam was one of shock. Politicians and media all condemned the attack. It was generally accepted that it was a racist attack (with the exception of the ministers of the interior). By now the conservative side had enough time to formulate a counter argument. On the one side they argue that the attackers were not right extremist (because they do not belong to any organisation), on the other they are busily discrediting the victim (arguing he had drunken, was aggressive, etc.). And they are successfull in doing so. More and more people are now joining in in playing down the racist nature of the attack. And doing so fuelling the racism in Germany.
