As far as I know the German constitution proclaims the separation of state and religion. The conservative politicians, however, seem to interprete the constitution differently. The minister for family has just started a coalition for education in which the two Christian churches are included but not the other religions. Even worse neither parents nor teachers are asked to participate. She is not only othering Jews and Muslims but all people who are secular.
